Well there goes coming up with a solution. Someone isn't willing to combine because he's a child and cries when he doesn't get his way. I've said I'd be willing to compromise and he says no. We'll stay separate then and it can become a popularity contest if that's how he wants it. This discussion is now over, so let's never speak of this ever again. They just can't build their shop next to mine, it has to be somewhere else so it keeps some sort of separation. Goodnight

"Sigh" Well i tried
people live their lives bound by what they accept as correct and true... that is how they define reality. But what does it mean to be correct or true? Merely vague concepts... their reality may all be an illusion.

I think that as group overall we should be setting the price and allowing anyone who wants to setup an operation. My understanding is that Lapis was to be the currency on the server, not withstanding that yes Diamonds are more valuable, however just as we set a value for Lapis and other items in that thread, we need to do the same here. Could you two approach this differently and instead of trying to decide how to split the profit, think about how to set the price from a holistic point of view for all kinds of books - for the entire server. Then post your proposal on the forum for all to review and discuss.

In my opinion this argument is kind of petty. I understand both parties are quite frustrated with each other but come on, try to be more civil. I understand Kryptic's frustration by the fact that he now has competition and that there hasn't been an agreement on splitting yet. Some more actual discussion would've been great between parties instead of this slight passive-aggressiveness. On the other hand, Hyper and Last_Stand should definitely be free to sell whatever they want. If I were you guys I wouldn't have created a similar business though as it'd create conflict, but that's just me being trying to stay neutral. Maybe try selling more specific enchanted things? Work pickaxes, work axes, powerful swords...stuff like that. I for one would be interested in a business like that. Thanks Panda and Red for trying to find a solution. It's very difficult setting a price for the lapis as some players have stacks of blocks whilst others hardly have any. It may be better having customised banknotes that contain a tag only available via commands. I'll go into more details on a separate post/thread once I have more time and I'm less zombie-like. That's just my opinion on the matter. I also think having a poll is pretty stupid, especially when it's made by one of the parties involved and heavily involves one side of the story in the OP. I don't feel like the server community can vote fairly...so yeah, not going to vote. But that's just me.
If at first you don't succeed, give up.

OKay... I didn't want to put my opinion into this, but don't you think this has all become a little crazy?
Seriously, this is a game! We're here to have fun.
Also, something to understand is that, if you create a rule that says "No one can make a shop that competes with an existing shop" how is that fair to anyone? I have myself created a Wood Shop, and now there is another one on the server offering logs for (Dare I admit) a lower price! Have I gone nuts in chat screaming at this person? Have I pushed for negotiations or rule changes? No! I sucked it up and understood that this is a game and people can do what they want!
We have a free market on this server, anyone can sell what they want to whom ever they want, for what ever price they wish. I don't think it's a good idea to start creating rules that effect this.
In short...
Suck it up Buttercup.
