Recently I had two friends that I wanted to have join the server, and they were turned away by the players simply because of their age.
I don't know where everyone got the idea that the rules were set in stone and that they weren't changeable. This is not true, we had the age rule set to 15 and we raised it. We change the rules all the time, just little things.
The moderators and I have decided that we're going to change the rule to 15-16. If a player is 15-16 their application will be checked more carefully, for example checking their player history, asking them to have a more detailed application. But they will no longer just be turned away due to age.
everyone has their yellow paint.

I like rules to be set in stone. I think they're fairer that way and it's nice when everyone knows and agrees on what the rules are. This does sound like it will be a good change. Some of us probably should reconsider some of our recent votes based on the change.

The way i saw rules is that when it says 16 up and onlu that is set in stone since you did not declare any sorta of if they are friends or decent people they can be accepted so as long as you put the loose wording on it saying 15-16 is our min age but you will have to meet extremem requiremenrs if youre under 16 I didnt disagree that rules are not changeable i disagree that while they are in place that they are flexible no rule should. Be flexed regardless of situations ( thiss will bite me in the ass one day ) but thats how i see it You may not agree with me but i say we make a new thread with all the "rules" and add sub catagory to make shit like this clear so as long as a rule has a sub catagory saying "if" said requirements are met you may bypass said rule But anyways good change now i dont have to brutally decline anyone thats 15 its now 14 ππ
people live their lives bound by what they accept as correct and true... that is how they define reality. But what does it mean to be correct or true? Merely vague concepts... their reality may all be an illusion.

I think being vouched for by trusted server members should be the only time someone under 16 is approved.

Just wanted to say I agree with this change. Scorlibran The only reason I disagree with someone being vouched for (in a situation such as the aforementioned) is that it opens up the possibility of people being admitted just because they know someone. Which is pretty much nepotism. Well, it is...actually. Which also leads me to believe people may be admitted just on that alone, and I've seen that go incredibly wrong in communities where admin/mods start favoring (in one sense or another). Anyway, in cases like this I believe everyone should have a fair shot and now it's much more fair.

We don't need to automatically accept anyone, regardless of a recommendation. I think the idea is that a person below the set age limit would need a recommendation as well as a polished application in order to be considered. Where as a person above the age limit would only need a well put together app.
That's the way I'm going to look at it, at least from here forward.

I think we will eventually go through the rules and update them, and also yes I agree with Ant. Any member who is 15 either needs to have a friend on the server for verification or they go through a very extensive application. Hell, we can even do both if that's what would make everyone feel comfortable. But like Kmc said, we can always un-whitelist them if they mess up.

we can always un-whitelist them if they mess up. The issue there is finding out who messed up, and dealing with the ramifications of such 'mess up' A pinch of prevention is worth a handful of cure.

Do the server logs not track what people do? Sadly no; that's one of the limitations of vanilla servers. The game doesn't log who breaks blocks or opens chests and it doesn't track player locations. I've seen an online community like this get really shaken up before when things were getting stolen and no one could figure out who was doing it. I know something like that happened on the Sunflower Kingdom server a while back, but that was before I joined.

I know of a plugin that does exactly that, it's called "coreprotect". It is really useful but I know people here don't get to excited about plugins...

No but in all seriousness theres a couple plugins but as soon as we add them we aint vanilla anymore we become a vanilla + π€’ What we really need is to drill it into the cunts heads that if you be breaking rules well ban your stupid ass. Since im not allowed to threaten to hunt them down irl i wont but just know i have to money to do so πΆ

But it is what it is.
