Sunflower Kingdom - Overview
The forum is the hub of the server community. It's an archive of history where both important and non-important (most the time) information is posted for every community member to see. Some categories are for important issues, such as bans and announcements, but most of the forum is for friendly communication between server members. Have a look around the forum, even if you're not whitelisted, feel free to contribute to our discussions either as a guest or just a normal account; the forum is here for everyone concerning our community!
It's not mandatory to use the forum, don't feel like it's a chore to go on it after you've applied and/or gotten in. However, you will miss out on a lot of server content. That could be in the form of fresh ideas being implemented or an event coming up. You will be less of a part of the server community if you don't know what's happening! If you're really not interested in posting, at least check the forum often in case of any notable announcements.
Feel free to build anywhere on the map. Just use common sense and you'll be fine!
Commands
As of right now we do not have a separate event server. However, this may change soon. Any server events will be done on the SMP. This means that the current survival map will be saved and temporarily be down in place of an event map. Events include UHCs, Race for the Wool, Spleef, Hunger Games etc. Check the events section of the forum for more details.
So now you know what to expect on the server. We hope you stick around and enjoy your gaming experience here. Try not to stay isolated and get to know us! Have fun!
Whether you're a new player here or an older one; this overview is here to help whomever may need it. If you're new, welcome to the server! Once you get the necessary amount of votes someone with in-game op or console access will whitelist you and announce it to you. If you're still waiting for votes you may have to bump your thread if it goes by unnoticed, we get a lot of applications here -we promise we're not ignoring you! Some members don't check the application section that often, but your application will be shared via the Skype group anyhow. This overview summarises what Sunflower Kingdom is like, so if you're checking us out, applying or have been whitelisted, feel free to read on!

If you're still waiting for votes, try not to use the shoutbox to ask for votes, be patient. Feel free to say hello to us on it though! The shoutbox is usually used for immediate help regarding the server or for nonsense talk, but it can also be used to announce if a server event is approaching very shortly.

If you have just been whitelisted, try not to just vote yes/no on every application. Let the more experienced members deal with applicants until you can see what we as a server are looking for in applications. If you're not whitelisted, please do not vote for anyone, whether that be yourself, a friend, or some random person who also likes the same kinds of games as you.
The SMP Map
If you've been whitelisted, congratulations! You can now play on the server like every other member.
The server is 4GB and is hosted in London, England, UK by Nitrous Networks. You should not have to worry about connection issues no matter where you are from in the world. If you do seem to be having connection issues, it's most likely on your side. If it's not on your side then please check the technical section of the forum to read more about server lag and connection issues.

When you connect for the first time, you'll notice our spawn. The spawn is fairly developed, with a town hall and multiple large structures nearby, along with shops. You'll find farms which you are free to use as long as you replant. Each day more buildings are created at spawn, so don't let that concern you. The spawn area eventually becomes a major town where practically all of the community collaborates together. The spawn is lit up very well, making mobs a minor issue. Shops are being built and there are several mob grinders nearby for XP. Spawn is considered the main place to go on the server, kind of like a server capital city.
Many people use spawn, either to meet up or to just work on builds together. You may bump into several players around spawn depending on the time of day and the timezone you are in. They'll most likely come and say hello to you and give you some items to help you out.
Feel free to build anywhere you want, there are no restrictions in terms of building as long as you use common sense (no building a huge build a few blocks away from a humble little house.) Spawn is big enough for everyone, so don't squeeze your house in-between others. As long as you respect other peoples' building space you'll have no issues with building.
At spawn there is a main Nether portal. When you go through the portal you will notice the place to be fairly empty. As of right now we are building a Nether hub. A Nether hub connects bases from all around the map to a central point via the use of tunnels. Players from a base not at spawn simply create a Nether portal and dig a tunnel to the Nether hub and connect to an empty tunnel space. More information to follow.
The server IP can be found in the FAQ.

Permissions
So what are you allowed to do? Where are you allowed to go? Pretty much anything and anywhere. As long as you use common sense you'll be perfectly fine.
Feel free to look around peoples' builds. Most players usually don't mind you looking around their builds, it's quite appreciated actually! Just make sure you don't snoop around too much or damage anything. Feel free to replant crops and maybe kill an animal or two if you breed them beforehand, but make sure it's an actual animal farm, not something decorative. Try not to look in other peoples' chests, especially if you're new, if a player notices you going through players' chests they may become slightly suspicious, especially if there are reports of theft. But don't worry, you won't get in trouble.

Commands
Since we're a vanilla server, we do not have Bukkit, Spigot or any plugins whatsoever. Everything you see is completely vanilla, including any server commands. We may use command blocks for server events, but apart from that everything else is legitimate. An exception to this is that we have developed a sleep system using a command block so that not all players need to sleep in a bed in order to skip night, just one third.
A few players have console access and could be regarded as either administrators or moderators, but the server is ran by the whole community. Players with op/console only use commands for whitelisting and dealing with coloured names.

Coloured names
So you've joined the server, pressed tab, and noticed that it looks like a rainbow with all the coloured players names. These colours represent nothing right now, but that could change depending on the map and what players want. Some player cliques may use a certain colour together, but you can still have any colour you want. To get a coloured name, simply ask Specalios for one. You can choose from any of the 16 available Minecraft colours (same as wool colours) and it can be changed at any time. And no, you cannot have a multicoloured name.
Activity
We're not a large server, but we're not a small server either. We always have at least one player on the server, with around 8 players online at once during the evenings GMT time. The activity is highest during the evenings (GMT) as that is when Europeans are home and when Americans start to come online. However, you'll find that the server is pretty active throughout the day, so you won't feel lonely!
Speaking of activity. Don't feel like you have to play every day as a chore. We all have other things to do outside of gaming, so we understand that people don't always play daily. New players who have not been on the server, forum or Skype will be unwhitelisted after a few days unless they state that they are busy or having difficulties. Please don't feel like that means you are not a part of the server anymore. This is only done to make it easier to track who is active and who isn't. If you are unwhitelisted by mistake or simply if you simply return, say so in the shoutbox or send a message to someone for one of the players who are opped to find out.

The SMP also has a few events such as fishing competitions, building competitions and soon-to-be horse racing events. These events are all vanilla and are optional, of course. There is usually a prize for winners, but it's nothing major as these events are just for fun.
Recording
If you would like to record feel free to! We enjoy seeing videos made by members and gladly encourage recording. We have a section dedicated to videos, so post your videos if you'd like!
Skype
We currently have a Skype group which a lot of server members are in. However, the server community prefers to use Discord. If you are whitelisted and would like to join the Skype group, simply add Specalios on Skype.

Discord
Our Discord group chat is becoming more and more popular. Most server members use Discord and the chat is very active. If you are unsure of what Discord is, please check it out here. Discord is basically like Skype but has many more features. Any whitelisted members are allowed to join! Just ask another whitelisted server member for the link
