Jose Mourinho responds to Newcastle manager job links and says he's "decided" stance[/b]
Jose Mourinho has confirmed his stance on whether he would be willing to leave AS Roma to join Newcastle United - a club that he admits to having an 'emotional connection' with
Jose Mourinho has responded to the rumours linking him with the newly-vacant manager's job at Newcastle United.
The current AS Roma coach was asked about a possible Premier League return following the £300million takeover of the northeast club by a consortium involving PIF, PCP Capital Partners, and RB Sports & Media.
The move has made the Magpies the richest club in the world, meaning they are a desirable destination for some managers although a relegation battle drops its short-term appeal.
Steve Bruce’s poor tenure came to an end on Wednesday with the club saying that he had left by mutual consent.
As such, the Newcastle managerial vacancy is needing to be filled by someone who can drag them out of the relegation battle they are facing, and onto something more.
A number of names have already been linked with the job - such as Paulo Fonseca, Eddie Howe, and Lucien Favre - and Mourinho’s name has also been connected to the role, owing to his relationship with the club through his former mentor Sir Bobby Robson.

But the Portuguese boss, 58, has distanced himself from any possible move from Rome.
"Newcastle job? I’ve decided to stay, I’m not leaving,” he told Sky Sports.
"I signed for three years project with Roma and I’m not gonna leave my players.”
His words come after reporters quizzed him about the recent takeover on Tyneside, where he conceded to having an emotional connection with the side.
"On Newcastle, I don't have anything to say. Absolutely nothing to say,” he responded via Goal.
"The only thing I can say is that for many, many years, I worked with one of the most important figures in the history of Newcastle, Sir Bobby Robson, and so because of that I have always had a bit of an emotional connection with that city and that fanbase.
"But it's nothing more than that."
Since joining Roma on July 1, Mourinho has enjoyed a decent first campaign, overseeing the side win nine games and losing three of their opening matches.
I Giallorossi are currently sitting in fourth position in Serie A, having struggled to piece together a string of wins in recent weeks.
Newcastle, meanwhile, are 19th in the Premier League, while they have the worst defensive record so far, conceding 19 times already in the elite division.
