sunflower.boards.net/thread/182/map-resetYes yes there is its gonna be really soon hopefully its 15/0 so its gonna happen due to votes alone
people live their lives bound by what they accept as correct and true... that is how they define reality. But what does it mean to be correct or true? Merely vague concepts... their reality may all be an illusion.

I thought the plan was to reset after the update?

I would like to see some serious input from the admin team on that thread, right now there is not a lot of solid direction with the discussion and the loudest voices seem to be those opposed. A reset so soon is going to set a bad precedent on the server and will greatly effect whether some players continue to play on this server.

The map will be reset tomorrow, Sunday 10/2. One thing I'd like to make clear is that I am not technically opposed to the reset as I myself voted for it. I am just more opposed to not allowing a more fluid and natural build according to each players preference. I think we all understand that a reset will impact each player and they'll have to make a decision of whether or not they'll continue to play, however - yesterday I counted we had around 111 members (give or take, over 100 anyway) at any given time the most I have seen in game is 15. The majority of players who are active have voted as far as I can tell. This server is also relatively new still we've barely climbed over the 100 player base a while back. Resetting could be beneficial to the new players as well as the older players who'd like to work together to build something more cohesive. The worst thing that can happen is if we don't communicate and listen to each others ideas on how to build that 'cohesive' environment.

Im fine with resetting, ive been here for just a week. My only question is wether it will be in the 1.11 snapshots, or it will remain in 1.10.2

As of now, the 1.11 Snapshot is heavily buggy. So what I believe was decided upon is we keep the server on 1.10.2 with a world border set to 5000 (The number that was thrown around most in the Skype chat, no guarantees on that.) until 1.11 releases. That way we can remove or expand the world border when 1.11 hits and access new chunks that will be loaded as 1.11 chunks.

Is there a plan to cut down on players - over 100 is a lot and we would need an infinite world to support them all, but we are talking about putting a world border on.
What will be the policy regarding resets moving forward? I am not keen to invest time of a reset will be occurring every few months.

I've been pretty quiet about the reset as I've wanted the community to discuss it amongst themselves. I for one have been pretty opposed to the map reset. I haven't said much about it though as my opinion could possibly sway others. Right now I've stopped advertising the server on server listing websites and Reddit, so the amount of applications we receive will decrease more and more. I've been removing players from the whitelist who appear to be inactive, however I may have been a bit too strict on that as I've had to rewhitelist several players already. I highly doubt that a map reset will happen again for the next 4 months. Even if the new version of Minecraft is fully released we can just expand the world border. I also don't want to use snapshots due to them often being buggy and based on previous experience, map corrupting. There's been a lot of discussion on the Skype group chat about this. But I've been pretty busy today and yesterday so I've been unable to make a constructive thread regarding everything happening, but I'll be making said thread now. (Nevermind, seems like a post was enough.)
If at first you don't succeed, give up.
