Sunflowererers! I think that if we have a small border in place for the first several weeks we could remove the mod and go back to vanilla generation if players don't like it. Kind of like a trial run. However I haven't looked into this mod much so far. I told you I would have a lot of questions! If we can back out of it, I don't see any reason not to try it.

Yes there were Villages and Desert Wells

Also, if we vote it in this time, can we vote it in/out next time too? Or are we voting for a permanent new addition to the server? We'll always have votes and discussions each time the map changes. We'll see how this one goes I guess.

Okay ive played with this mod it gets rid of all land temples so jungle and desert. Villages spawn still barely but they do. As for sea temples im not sure i havent recently payed in the ocean. As for genning the world its a good idea to load the mod and plugins pre gen the 5k by 5k then update to 1.11.2 on 100% vanilla so that no generation after the boarder happens till the new mod is out and then we got the 100% vanilla back with out a modded server
people live their lives bound by what they accept as correct and true... that is how they define reality. But what does it mean to be correct or true? Merely vague concepts... their reality may all be an illusion.

No temples is an issue, as it eliminates Ocean Monuments, as well as Guardians. That gets rid of all the Prismarine Block variants and sea lanturns.
I don't like how it removes the land temples and affects the Village spawn rates. Its eliminating aspects of minecraft and that isn't very vanilla IMO.

Should I set up a server with the mod for people to join and play around with?

Removing a world gen mod is not a good idea if there is still a possibility that some time in the future new chuncks will be generated with a different world gen. It always leaves very ugly chunck borders and abrupt biome changes. The whole map should be generated to avoid that.
Maybe RTG is a better option but it doesn't add all these funky new biomes: minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/realistic-terrain-generation

There are always more options! I'm not proficient with the technical side, but I do know that it is possible to change the world generation after some of it has been loaded, for example - Etho changed his vanilla world which used old generation, to amplified terrain when that came out. Now my suggestion is that we could keep spawn as strictly vanilla generation for like 500x500 (or 1kx1k), then have it generate the new modified terrain, in an attempt to ease people's projected fears of lag at spawn. I suggest this as current spawn is basically a city and the biomes that exist there on the f3 hud are barely recognizable anyway, so any fancy new stuff would be steamrolled for the next spawn city. I want everyone to be happy, but seeing a lot of people say no to new worldgen kinda sucks, would rather see a compromise rather than a NO. At least we can all move forward soon, one way or another! EDIT: About ugly biome transitions around spawn, if they occur, we can make it an official border for spawn city and doctor it up somehow... maybe a road or.. God forbid I say.. wall ...

I have this mod installed and many things are different, especially ore rarity. Getting diamonds and stuff is super easy. As for villages they still exist. I'm gonna be a hard no on this one.

Wasn't it determined yesterday that this mod removed all naturally generated structures like ocean monuments and such, and that's why most people said no to it? Because no ocean monuments mean no guardians and no guardian farm and that means no sea lanterns or prismarine blocks.. And it made villages much more rare too?

Found this with the help of Google - www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/minecraft-mods/2524489-realistic-terrain-generation-rtg-realistic-biomes?page=97Also, large mountains and forests? Yes please! Just something other than old world generation. as long as others are happy.

I am actually pretty sure that the village spawn rate doesn't change but it may just seem that way. Also I took a look at the RTG settings file and found that you can configure it for Ocean monuments to generate.

I thought those structures still existed but were more rare? I'll look into the mod tonight and see if I can find generated structures.
