The server community has grown massively over the past 13 days. People have joined and left, been banned, gone away on holiday, but there's still a very active community. Should we close the whitelist? Or maybe have a stricter application process? Maybe keep the whitelist open for a bit longer? Not adding a poll so that more discussion takes place

you could increase the vote requirement...?
There are a lot of members, but more is always nice, if they are quality players.

Yeah, that's true. I was thinking about increasing it to 5, it'll also encourage more players to vote.

I agree with moving the vote to at least 5.

See I like the idea of A higher vote but personally After reading a couple And even my own Application i feel it should be a bit of a Stricter application process. Im not saying that anyone on the server Didnt try or anything like that but I feel That things with one sentence or two Shouldn't Automatically be accepted Maybe Require More detail? Im not sure if i making sense i just think a slight bit more detail and Stricter Voting policies would be Decent Either way
people live their lives bound by what they accept as correct and true... that is how they define reality. But what does it mean to be correct or true? Merely vague concepts... their reality may all be an illusion.

Personally, it kind of depends on the overall vision you have for the server. Like, if you overall want a more tight-knit community of friends, you'd be better off keeping things as they are and closing the whitelist. If you wish to grow and expand, I'd keep the whitelist open (although I would make it more strict if so), but keep in mind that the addition of more people may lose the tight-knit feeling of a community of friends in favor of a larger community that isn't as close to each other. These are just my thoughts on it of course, but I feel that this is how things would turn out in either direction you chose to go, but who knows.

Yeah, usually I'm very strict when voting on applicants. Since this server is still very new I've been pretty lenient. Now that we've established a great community maybe it's time to be much stricter. Quality over quantity anyways! Thanks for your posts guys, it seems like we all agree on having a stricter application process. I'm thinking: raise the votes to 5, maybe have more questions in the application/more details, and also become much stricter in voting for applicants. That's just my opinion though

We should eliminate applicants through specific criteria. For example, we could look for players that are especially good in design - perhaps requiring them to post screenshots of their latest builds?

But this server isn't a building server. Would it be fair to reject someone just because they're not good at building?

No, it wouldn't be fair to eliminate based upon one's "preferred" thing to do in MC, whether that is building or otherwise. Rather a more approachable aspect is that which was mentioned above, more scrutiny of future applicants, eg. How are they as a person v.s. what they can do in the environment. To be honest, had the requirements not been so loose in the first place I might have not applied but I'm very glad I did as I really like the people we've got on this server. Max really said it perfectly: It kind of depends on the overall vision you have for the server. Like, if you overall want a more tight-knit community of friends, you'd be better off keeping things as they are and closing the whitelist. If you wish to grow and expand, I'd keep the whitelist open .
